Welcome
This website has been established to help you, the general public, better understand the potential problems that ticks and other biting bugs (vectors) can bring to people when you travel outdoors in Australia or overseas.

It aims to get you to understand some basic information about ticks and other vectors, how to avoid being bitten in the first place and if you are, what to do to remove them and apply some basic first aid.

If you do become sick it outlines what some of the potential infections that ticks and other vectors might carry and how to proceed next with obtaining medical help.

Basically, by reading over this website and taking the simple advice provided, we hope to save you from potentially a life of misery from bites from these vectors and their infectious zoonotic infections that might make you, your family or friends sick.

How To Use
The front page has been set up simply so you just click to the section that you would like to know more information about. For example, if you are heading outdoors on a camping holiday or travelling to a potential tick infected area you can go to the ticks or other bugs section and learn all about these and where they might be and where the hot spots in Australia and overseas are.

If you want to know what to do to prevent tick and bug bites go to this section and find out what you would need to buy and take with you in your first aid kit.

If you happen to be bitten by a tick go to the removal section and follow the instructions. If you happen to become sick afterwards there is some help there for you as well.

Ticna would love for you to go out and explore all of what Australia and the world have to offer. We want to you enjoy your travels, your outdoor sports, your camping trips with the family and friends and even your garden. By understanding these bugs and undertaking some simple prevention measures we have outlined you can do this and come home safe.
