The Tick-borne Illness Community Network Australia Inc. (TICNA), was established in 2017 in Melbourne, Victoria, and became incorporated on 24th January 2018. The TICNA committee comprises a mix of healthy family, friends of and some patients who suffer from tick-borne illnesses such as Rickettsia, Bartonella, Babesia, Lyme and a Borrelia Lyme-like illness, to name a few.
Our immediate primary aim, via our Tick Talks (see below), is to educate the broader community about the dangers ticks (and other vectors) can cause the public. We believe that with a general public education approach, this should eventuate in bringing the many political, medical and human rights issues already facing those sick from a tick-borne illness in Australia, to the public forefront. By engaging successfully with the general healthy community, TICNA would also like to recruit volunteers outside the tick illness community willing to help, campaign and advocate on our behalf.
We have found many people have heard of someone with a tick illness or Lyme-like story. So, if you have your own tick story and are not already involved in the Lyme-like or tick illness world, TICNA would love to hear from you.
